Real Humans of MBA Students: USC Marshall MBA Class of 2023

Students of the USC Marshall School of Business MBA Class of 2023 shed light on their admissions journeys and more in this edition of Real Humans: MBA Students.

The MBA Class of 2023 at Marshall is comprised of 218 students. Thirty-six percent are women and 34 percent are international, representing 31 different countries of origin. Forty-seven domestic students identify as students of color, while 21 percent identify as historically underrepresented students of color.

During their undergraduate years, the Marshall class averaged a GPA of 3.6. Twenty-nine percent had majored in business/commerce followed by 18 percent in engineering/computer science. Seventeen percent had studied engineering. Another 15 percent pursued the humanities and 13 percent social sciences. Sciences and law cover the rest of the class, at seven percent and one percent, respectively.

The class matriculated at an average age of 29 with an average of 5.25 years of work experience. Financial services and technology each cover 17 percent of Marshall students’ professional backgrounds. Nine percent came from a consulting job followed by eight percent from media/entertainment. Seven percent had worked in healthcare and six percent in government/military. Five percent or less came from industries such as non-profit, CPG, manufacturing, real estate and a few others. When it came time to take the GMAT, Marshall MBAs landed an average score of 716.
